Blue and Orange Bachelor pad

9d581914f77a949a99807c0617cd88e6I was looking for bright sofas when I stumbled across this image on Houzz.com. It’s a great website for inspiration and even better seeing members photos in the comments. I love how the sofa and cushions really pop against the muted grey walls and rug.

Theres a great post on ‘In My Own Style’ showing how to transform furniture using black varnish. I love that you would be able to use Minwax or cheaper Wilko’s varnish to change cheap Ikea bedside tables into sleek side tables.

FIND

Keep an eye out at Charity shops, carboot sales, eBayGumtree & your local paper. Takes a bit of time but there are bargains to be baggedInteriorLooks21FIND

Brass against blue works great, and if your don’t have grandparents willing to lend you an animal from their brass collection (mine have quite a selection!), you can pick up animals and objects for well under £10 each from eBay and Gumtree. As they’re quite heavy it might be something to keep an eye out for them at car boot sales or in charity shops so you don’t end up paying loads for postage.

And while you’re at the car boot, keep an eye out for a bench which can be repurposed as as a coffee table. Don’t worry about the condition as you can varnish it to match the side tables.
